Bookmark and Share

Fibromyalgia (FM) has a wide range of symptoms and overlapping conditions! It is easy to mistake one condition or symptom for another. FM, along with these other factors that are related, it is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood.

FM is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain and weakness. American College of Rheumatology established diagnostic guidelines in 1990. It is defined by 11-18 tender points located throughout the body. When a doctor examines the FM, he / she will find you a bit painful to the touch points and reaction to pain. These tender points are located mainly in the muscles around the neck, shoulders, chest, knees and regions around the elbow, and hips.

I was diagnosed in 1995, and lived with FM for many years before I could finally put a name on it. It is a relief, in a way, because my pain and fatigue was finally confirmed, but I knew I was in for. Later, I realized many other conditions I had were related to FM. The list is constantly growing!

FM patients, symptoms can vary in quantity and degree. It is never exactly the same as the next person. You May have one or May you have all (I hope the former), but all the information below refers to fibromyalgia.

Aside from the obvious pain and muscle weakness, symptoms of fibromyalgia are: allergies, imbalances (trouble with balance), dizziness, clumsiness, extreme fatigue, sleep starts (falling sensation), insomnia, sleep disorders like sleep apnea, headaches, increased menstrual pain, sensory sensitivity, sensitive skin, itching, histamine reactions like dermographia, morning stiffness, stiffness when walking, mottled skin, carbohydrate cravings (sweets, too), yeast infections (Candida) overgrowth of tissue, nail ridges, rounded nails, ingrown head, just scarring, anxiety, stress, and cry easily, panic attacks, mood swings, irritability, sudden, extreme sweating, higher than average infection, shaking or tremors, bruising (more than the average person), weight gain or loss, bruxism (night grinding teeth), numbness and tingling (Parasthesia), sinusitis, runny nose (often), ear pain, trouble swallowing, eye pain, sensitivity to certain substances (clothing, bedding), heartburn, indigestion, weak grasp, lack of breath, chest tightness, rapid heartbeat, painful intercourse, impotence, low-back pain, leg burning, dry eyes and mouth, hormonal fluctuations, delayed reactions to more effort or stress, muscle twitches, swelling, mold and yeast sensitivity , pelvic pain, frequent urination, stomach cramps, bloating and nausea.

FM patients are probably familiar with the term "fibro fog". This refers to the symptoms of FM related to cognitive dysfunction. problems with memory, difficulty concentrating, word coming out jumbled, decision problems, problems spelling words that I know, scattered thoughts

If that's not enough, we can add other debilitating disorders, syndromes or diseases: chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Chronic Myofascial Pain (CMP) (formally known as myofascial pain syndrome), migraine (in all forms) , irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), restless legs syndrome (RLS), interstitial cystitis (IC) or painful bladder, mitral valve prolapse (MVP), temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), insulin resistance (IR), Acid Reflux - GERD, Reactive Hypoglycemia (RHG), depression and anxiety.

It's enough to make anyone want to go to bed and stay there! I had my moments - trust me! Sometimes, it seems unbearable, and I can not take another second, but I must do so! Take it from day to day and make the most of their good days. At the end of a bad - you can say that through another day, but tomorrow might be better
